Rowen Frederick

Meet Rowen Frederick, BSN, RN

Rowen is a Registered Nurse who has worked in two emergency rooms in eight years and a Cardiac catheterization lab for two years. As a registered nurse in the Cardiac catheterization lab, he educates patients on the procedures they are having and their at-home care post-procedure. Currently, he sees one patient at a time, which gives him the opportunity to give thorough care to his patients unlike the emergency department.

When asked why he decided to get into nursing, Rowen said “I wanted to help create a world where all patients will be given equal quality care. There are many underserved communities that have little access to primary/preventative care and resources to promote better health.”

However, Rowen acknowledges that the work is challenging. The pandemic has definitely changed his life because of the amount of deaths he has seen. He has even had patients threaten his life at times. However, “the main issue I find in my career is lack of staffing. When nurses aren’t doing multiple jobs and have safe staffing, they are better able to give excellent care and time to every patient,” he says.

But even though it has its challenges, the career can be very rewarding. “It is rewarding to give excellent care to patients and see people leave your care in a better state than when they arrived.” That is the overall goal in the profession and Rowen strives to make that happen every day.

Thank you Rowen for all that you do!
